DOJ’s Role in Enforcing Title VII Against State and Local Governments.

While Title VII gives the EEOC litigation authority against private employers, Title VII gives DOJ this enforcement power when it comes to discrimination claims against state and local governments. In this webinar, we will hear from the Employment Litigation Section of the DOJ Civil Rights Division about DOJ’s role in investigating and litigating discrimination claims against state and local governments, the intersection between DOJ’s role and cases brought independently by employees, and the role of the private plaintiff-side employment bar.

Speakers:

- Allan Townsend, Senior Trial Attorney, DOJ

- Lisa R. Moore, Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist, DOJ

Moderators:

- Michal Shinnar, Joseph Greenwald and Laake

- Omar Melehy, Melehy & Associates, LLC

Webinar will be conducted over Zoom.
